The 2.5 features two main types of ECU: ME7.1.1 and ME17.5. You have the flexibility to use any combination of harness/ECU as long as they are from the same years:
- ME7.1.1 (2005-2008)
- ME17.5 (2009-2014)
However, please be aware that the Beetle is an exception, and you should check the harness compatibility by inspecting the connector.

If you are considering boosting the 2.5, it is advisable to utilize a ME17.5.6 ECU (2012+), which is compatible with any ME17.5 harness from 2009 onward.
